City of Oak Forest Veterans Commission met Feb. 17.

3. Approval of Minutes
∙ Approval of the November & January minutes by Don Snedden 2nd by Ralph Chichester.
o All members present approved, no nays.
4. Liaison to the City Report Paul Selman:
∙ Hometown hero’s banner draft was sent to Communications Director Chrissy Maher.
5. OLD BUSINESS:
∙ Banners program honoring our Veterans, Paul and Joe will meet with Joe Petrizzo and Chrissy Maher Tuesday February 15th. To discuss where banners can be put up and how many could we put up. Need to agree on banner policy and request form.
∙ Flag receptacle needs cleaning out and Don has friend to burn flags. Don will make sure flags will be retired in spring.
∙ FLEADH parade is Saturday March 5 requesting Vets Commission to be color guard. ∙ Paul and Joe will continue to talk with Tom Ceska about painting base of Nike Missile.
6. NEW BUSINESS:
∙ Trivia question: What organization was founded February 4 1941?
o Answer: USO United Services Organization.
∙ Paul and Joe talked with Gerry Vankus about a Military Museum. He has a bunch of military uniforms and other memorabilia to share with all. He is hoping to acquire some land at the Oak Forest Medical Center.
7. Once around the Table;
o Ralph – VFW fish Friday is always the 3rd Thursday of month.
o Joe – Since ZOOM was not available, to us I tried using google meet and some members could not gain access. Thanks all for the last minute attempt to meet.
