Village of East Hazel Crest President and Board of Trustees met Feb. 23.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Regular Meeting of the President and Board of Trustees via ZOOM at 7 pm

Officials: Mayor Thomas A. Brown, Administrator Lazuka and Clerk Minnis Roll Call: Trustees Forte, Kearns, Johnson, Ewan,Wideman & Ortiz, were present, Also present PD Chief Janich and Deputy Fire Chief Mills & PW Director King.

Minutes: Trustees Ewan and Kearns made the motions to approve the minutes of the 1-26-22 regular meeting. All trustees were in favor

Reports of Village Officials:

Mayor's Report:

1) Ordinance 21-10, Water Rate Increase: this is necessary as a condition of the IEP A loan for our water upgrades. This Ordinance will cover the repayment of that portion of the loan that we are required to pay. Trustees Ortiz and Johnson made the motions to Adopt Ordinance 21-10. Roll call: all trustees voted aye. Mtn.carried.

2) Resolution 21-09; Authorizing execution of an application for the Invest in Cook County Program for resurfacing of Parking Lot. Trustees Wideman and Kearns made the motions to adopt Resolution 21-09. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Mtn. carried.

3) Resolution 21-10; Outlining an Agreement with SSMMA to use STP and TDCH funding for the four block Center Street Project. Trustees Kearns and Ewan made the motions to adopt Resolution

21-10. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Mtn. carried.

Mayor Brown said we will go back to our Regular Meetings ( open to the public.)

Clerk: Clerk Minnis had nothing to report.

Administrator's Report:

1) Administrator Lazuka request approval for Mayor Brown to execute an Agreement to continue use and participation in the administrative Park ing and Compliance hearing system for Municipal Ordinance violation enforcement and tag management. Trustees Johnson and Wideman made the motions to approve the AGREEMENT. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Motions carried.

2) Consideration and approval to use Robinson Eng. to compile and submit the annual MWRD report for the Village. Trustees Johnson and Forte made the motions to approve use of Robinson Eng. to compile and submit the annual MWRD report for the Village. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Mtn. carried.

3) Request from Fire Department for further discussion/ direction/ approval on purchase of a new fire truck. Three proposals have been received - but only one can build from specification. The bids run from $625,000 to $650,000; total 623,793.00 from Bosenbaum. Truck Gant $430,000 ... needs 5% from the Village. Trustees Keams and Ortiz made the motions to approve the ten year plan. Discussion. We will need to finance $215,293. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye Mtn. carried.

OPEN TO VISITORS: no input.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Streets: Tr. Forte had nothing.to report. She spoke of going to Alabama with students and elected officials next week.

Finance/License:

1) Trustees Johnson and Wideman made motions to approve the bills on Claims Sheets dtd. 2/9/22 in the amount of $34,741.72.

Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Mtn. carried.

Trustees Johnson and Keams made the motions to approve bills on Claims Sheets dtd. 2/23/22 in the amount of $60,582.85.

Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Mtn. caried.

SIGNS/CONSTRUCTION/ MAINTENANCE. Tr. Keams had nothing to report.

He inquired about a possible sign for the Casino. Mayor Brown said current signs will be removed. Wind Creek will be putting signs up at the 294/80 Interstate & Halsted interchange.

HEALTH/SAFETY/PERSONNEL; Tr. Ewan had nothing to report.

WATER/SEWERS; No report by Tr. Wideman,

POLICE/FIRE: Tr. Ortiz. had nothing to report.

OLD BUSINESS -

New Business: Tr. Forte expressed concern about the newly installed water meters. Information should be sent to residents in their next water bill informing them "how to open and read them".

She also inquired again for consideration in extending the sidewalk at 175th & Loomis to the end of her driveway.

Another item of concern: when Public Works plow the streets, the plowed snow is deposited in driveways. Perhaps future consideration could be given for the village to have SENIOR"S driveways cleared.

Tr. Keams noted the American Legion Post 1139 will be visiting the veterans in Manteno on Tues. 3/11. Mayor Brown requested donations for the veterans. He urged residents to drop off their donations at the Village Hall.

EXECUTIVE SESSION - none

ADJOURNMENT: There being no other business to come before the Board, Trustees Ortiz and Wideman made the motions to adjourn. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7:35 pm.
