City of Hometown City Council met March 22.

Call to Order: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hometown was called to order by Mayor Kevin Casey at 7:00 P.M.
Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alderman Dan Walsh
Roll Call: Roll call indicated that the following were present: Aldermen Zak, Banasiak, Barnhouse, Smith, Kurysz, Beyer, Finnegan, Walsh and Reynolds.
Absent: Alderman Grochowski
Also present: Elizabeth Attard, City Attorney

Moved by Alderman Zak seconded by Alderman Smith to approve as published the Journal of March 8, 2022 regular City Council Meeting.

REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS
Office of the Mayor
Mayor Casey turned the meeting over to Deputy Chief Hoenselaar. Deputy Chief Hoenselaar presented to the City Council Officer Prince who is being promoted to the rank of Sergeant, the spot vacated by Lt. Pratt. Deputy Chief Hoenselaar reported that Officer Prince has had a very long career in Law Enforcement with Bridgeview police, he has been an instructor for the State Police and Chicago Police, he was an investigator, he was on the SS Major Crimes Task Force, he was a MADD and AIM certified teacher and received honors from both of those organizations. Clerk Hacker administered the Oath of Office to Sgt. Prince. Sgt. Prince was congratulated on his promotion.
Mayor Casey reported that the Car Wash is waiting for MWD permits, then they will start the demo, then asphalt the lot and the car wash will come in as three pieces. Mayor Casey stated he met with one of the residents involved with the Church property and there is resolution, we had a good conversation, and I had a call with the Archdiocese today also, so this is moving again and will be fair for all parties. There are workers again at Go Puff but no opening date. There is a new owner of Pizza Plus and he had asked that we wait a few weeks so he has time to get things to his liking, then we will have a Grand Re-opening. Mayor Casey stated he wanted to commend the Police Department on the work they did Thursday Night on one of our businesses selling illegal cigarettes.

City Clerk Mary Jo C. Hacker report everyone should be getting an email from Cook County regarding the ethics statement. If you need assistance, please reach out.
Office of the Treasurer:
City Treasurer Salvatore Roti stated we will have the Committee of the Whole meeting after this meeting regarding the budget.

City Attorney: Elizabeth Attard had no report.
Police: Louis Dominguez, Chief was not present.
Public Works: Mark Trlak, Director reported that the street sweeper came through last night, they have been doing routine maintenance, meter repairs and B Box locates.
Building: James Forbes, Commissioner was not present.
Public Health & Safety: Director Bonnie Gesiakowski reminded residents that the weather is changing, time to clean up their properties.

Moved by Alderman Beyer, seconded by Alderman Banasiak to approve for payment the accounts payable vouchers in the amount of $102,594.02 and payroll vouchers in the amount of $68,716.00 for a total expenditure of $171,310.02.

Library: Alderman Grochowski, Liaison reported the Circulation for February 2021 was 406 and 2022 was 403. The budget discussion was tabled, and they asked that Treasurer Roti attend the meeting on April 5th at 7:00 p.m. They have been working on their Annual Report which is due in May.
Legislation: Alderman Christopher Beyer had no report.
Fire Department: Mayor Casey, Liaison, reported things are going well and there are changes coming.
Personnel Mayor Kevin Casey, Chairman had no report.

PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, COMMUNICATIONS, RESOLUTIONS, ORDERS AND ORDINANCES BY ALDERMEN
SPECIAL EVENTS: Alderman Grochowski had no report.
HEALTH, WELFARE & COMMUNITY EVENTS: Alderman Grochowski reported there will be no Facts not Facebook in Aril but the Home-Rule meeting will be April 13th at Patterson Park at noon. The VFW is having a Penny Social on March 27, 2022.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: NONE
NEW BUSINESS: Alderman Kurysz reported she attended the Home Rule meeting which she thought was fantastic.
