Budget: Mayor Casey turned the meeting over to Treasurer Roti. Treasurer Roti stated the library is happy, they have more funds than in the past, they have cut the hours which would have reduced the spending as well as just spending less money. On page 4 of the handouts, you will see the raise % and what each would cost the city. Alderman Beyer asked if we felt the raise amount we give would retain employees. Mayor Casey stated the turnover we have is in the Police Department and most of them are going to full-time departments. There is actually stealing of officers going on in Full-time departments, seems not many want to be police officers. We are competitive in the Part-time department field. Mayor Casey stated we are changing the pay structure since we are archaic, and there has been some abuse. We have eliminated positions no longer needed or used such as radio operators since we no longer dispatch. The Police Department is doing excellent work, the Chief will bring details to the next meeting. Just a small note, with the recent accident at Walgreen’s where we lost a resident that was struck by a vehicle, in the past we had to call in the State Police for reconstruction of the site, our guys did it and did it well. Alderman Banasiak asked about the Public Works Truck. Treasurer Roti stated it will be in the appropriation. Mayor Casey stated, on the truck, I still am in favor of keeping the Hi-Lift and only using it as a lift truck and purchasing a new utility vehicle for everyday use. There was further discussion on the truck purchase and it was decided they will have to wait and see what the Public Works Director brings to them. Treasurer Roti asked for a consensus on the percentage for raises. It was agreed upon to award a 3% increase.
