City of Hometown City Council met June 28.

Call to Order:
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hometown was called to order by Mayor Pro-Tem Rick Banasiak on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 7:00 P.M.
Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alderman Robert Reynolds.
Mayor Pro-Tem Banasiak asked for a moment of silence for longtime resident Ted Kramer. Ted was a Library Board member for 49 years and served as the board Treasurer. Ted passed away over the weekend.
Roll Call: Roll call indicated that the following were present: Aldermen Zak, Banasiak, Barnhouse, Smith, Kurysz, Walsh, Beyer, Grochowski, Finnegan and Reynolds.
Also present: Elizabeth Attard, City Attorney, Louis Dominguez, Chief of Police, Bonnie Gesiakowski, Director of Public Health and Safety and Mark Trlak, Public Works Director.

Moved by Alderman Walsh seconded by Alderman Kurysz to approve as published the Journal of June 14, 2022 regular City Council Meeting.

Office of the Mayor
Mayor Pro-Tem Banasiak introduced Tim O’Connor from Midwest Meter to give a
presentation regarding the Smart Water Meters.
There was discussion after the presentation and Mr. O’Connor answered all questions.
Mayor Pro-Tem Banasiak stated Mayor Casey will give us all the updates at the next meeting.
Office of the City Clerk:
City Clerk Mary Jo C. Hacker stated her office received a request from the Salvation Army to conduct their annual Red Kettle Campaign Monday-Saturday, November 1st thru December 24, 2022.
Moved by Alderman Grochowski, seconded by Alderman Zak to approve the request from the Salvation Army.
Voice Vote indicated: 10 Ayes 0 Nays
Office of the Treasurer:
City Treasurer Salvatore reported he will miss the July 12, 2022 City Council Meeting but will be available via email for any issues or questions.

Moved by Alderman Beyer, seconded by Alderman Smith to approve for payment the accounts payable vouchers in the amount of $183,863.71 payroll vouchers in and the amount of $64,743.85 for a total expenditure of $248,607.56.

Alderman Brian Barnhouse, Chairman notified the City Council there will be a Building Board of Appeals held on July 13, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the request of John and Laura Dicharo of 8765 S. Kildare due to the denial of the siding permit they submitted where the color will not match the attached neighbor.
Additionally, Chairman Barnhouse notified the City Council there will be a

LICENSE COMMITTEE:
Alderman Donna Grochowski, Chairman reminded the residents that vehicle stickers and animal tags are on sale until June 30th at the regular price, after June 30th the price is double.

CITIZEN’S HEARING: Jan and John Forney of the Home Rule Committee and Dave Muir talked about working hard to pass it and they thanked Bonnie for her work. It was announced that from the tapes from the polling place Home Rule passed by 9 votes. Official results will be certified July 19th according to the County Clerk’s Office.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by Alderman Walsh Seconded by Alderman Beyer to adjourn the regular meeting of the Hometown City Council.
