Stephanie Trussell, Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, recently attended a service at the Cornerstone Church in Chicago.
Trussell had the opportunity to speak at the service and shared her views on protecting kids.
"It was the second time I had the pleasure of addressing Cornerstone Baptist Church," she posted on Facebook. "The last time it was their anniversary and today is Stewardship Sunday. The members make you feel right at home. The message was a nice reminder that we are stewards of our children. I told them that we must share with friends and family what J.B. is still doing to the children."
Gubernatorial candidate and running mate Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) chimed in on Facebook.
“Thanks to our friends at Cornerstone Baptist Church In Chicago for hosting your next Lieutenant Governor, Stephanie Trussell!” Bailey said.
Trussell first attended services at the Cornerstone Church in June.
"In addition to my birthday celebration, I got to worship at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Chicago; celebrating their 14th anniversary! " she said then. "I had the pleasure of being one of the candidates that attended this celebration. I love sharing my religious values and my political views. I told them J.B. does not reflect our values and doesn’t deserve 4 more years!"
Cornerstone Baptist Church dubbed itself "an old-fashioned Bible-believing church." They "believe God’s Word has the answer to all life’s problems." According to the church's website, "By reading and understanding the Bible, we can know how to get to heaven and how to live a successful life until we arrive. God did not leave us here to grope in the dark but gave us His Word as a guide for life. It has instructions on how to have a wonderful husband-wife relationship, how to successfully rear children, and how to cope with the stress of these times. We call ourselves an old-fashioned church because we still strive to live by the Bible.”
Trussell, according to her campaign's website, "is no stranger to overcoming adversity."
Trussell and Bailey's campaign calsl Trussell "A natural born leader." According to the campaign website, her "career has spanned several management roles with Goodwill Industries, the Renaissance Hotel Chicago, and eventually the Mayor’s Office of Tourism in Chicago."
