During a Labor Day weekend full of parades and fun, State Senator and GOP Gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey and his wife Cindy celebrated with parade participants at Robbins. The enthusiasm and support they received, according to Bailey, during the parade were incredible.

"We had a blast at the Robbins parade", Bailey said. "It is the largest Black parade in the south suburbs of Cook County. Cindy and I had a great time meeting new friends in Robbins, IL!"

The Robbins Community Center hosted the annual Village of Robbins Pre-Labor Day Festival and Parade last Sunday, Sept. 4, Meridian reported. During the event, a resource fair also took place to aid with utility bills, and mobile health on hand administered Covid testing and additional medical services to those who attended the parade.

The Robbins’ Festival & Parade announcement noted that the festival's musical program included DJ Reign Supreme, DJ Dave Mathews, and DJ.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the parade shut down traffic for the day, alongside parade routes, according to Village of Robbins Mayor Darren E. Bryant.

The Robbins Parade is a yearly event that also serves as a Back-to-School and Labor Day parade. Many Robbins locals eagerly await this parade and consider it a type of family reunion, with relatives frequently returning to Robbins simply to take part in the procession. Other spectators stated that attending the parade had been a family tradition for as long as they could remember.

Nichelle Nichols and Village Clerk Debra Yates were honored posthumously as Honorary Grand Marshalls during the procession.

Robbins is just one of the many stops Bailey went to during the Labor Day weekend. The State Senator from Xenia vows to solve the state's many pressing concerns if elected Governor — particularly the problem of rising crime. "As your next governor, our streets will be safe, our schools will teach our children to work and thrive, and you will benefit more from your hard work," Bailey said.
