Village of East Hazel Crest Board met June 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Officials: Mayor Brown, Administrator Lazuka and Clerk Minnis

Roll Call: Trustees Forte, Keams, Johnson, Ewan, Wideman & Ortiz

Guests: Dpty FD Chief Mills, PD Chief Roy Janich, PW Supt. Brian King, J. Hale, Fred Kokodiej, Ms.Woods, Carol Cook, P. Newton, M. Fernandez, Louie Dutka & Linda,

Invocation & Pledge. Mayor Brown asked for a moment of silent prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

Minutes: Trustees Ortiz & Wideman, made the motions to approve the minutes of the 5/25/22 regular meeting. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried.

Reports of Village Officials:

Mayor's Report:

Mayor Brown presented the proposal/contract of WJE for inspections of the Casino/Hotel to be built on Halsted Street south oflSTHA. After a brief discussion, Trustees Ortiz and Johnson made the motions to approve the WJE proposal/contract. Roll Call: All trustees voted aye. Mtn. carried.

J Clerk: No report by Clerk Minnis.

Administrator: No report by Administrator Lazuka.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC: Trustees Keams and Ortiz made the motions to open this segment of the meeting to the public. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7:08 pm

Discussion re: various overgrown grass properties in the Village. G. Mills has sent numerous letters to offending property owners. Mayor Brown explained the process that is required:

· 1) the Village must send the property owner a letter stating the offense and time line to correct it.

2) a second letter with an explanation that failure to cut the grass will result in a Village directive to cut the grass and a lien will be filed on the owner ofrecord.

It's a lengthy process!

M Fernandez inquired if the Village Public Works employees re still pick up branches on the 1st Monday of every month. Response: yes, they do.

Complaints had been made at a previous meeting of Homewood Disposal leaving their north door open - allowing dust & debris to be airborne thru the residential area north of their business establishment.

Discussion followed on complaints received about dogs running loose and about offensive bar~ing.

Discussion continued re: ditch maintenance responsibility of adjacent property owner. Copies of CODE are available at the clerk's office.

Fred Kokodziej inquired "when the Casino is expected to be open for business? Hopefully, in mid 2023.

CLOSE: There being no other input from those present, Trustees Keams and Johnson made the motions to Close this segment of the meeting to the Public. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time; 7:37 pm.

REPORTS:OF STANDING COMMITTEES:

Streets: Tr. Forte spoke of the numerous complaints about 'dogs'. She read a letter she received from a resident about an abandoned house with raccoon nesting creating a nuisance. [this letter Was given to Adm. Lazuka]

Finance/License: Trustees Johnson and Keams made the motions to pay all bills on the Claims Sheets of 5/27 /22 in the amount of $52,386.92,

on the Claims Sheets of 6/2/22 in the amount of $16,580.97;

on the Claims Sheets of 6/6/22 in the amount of $11,277.57;

on the Claims Sheets of 6/8/22 in the amount of25,157.65

for a total of 105,293.11

Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Motions carried.

Signs/Maintenance/Construction: Trustee Kearns had nothing to report. Health/Safety/Personnel: Trustee Ewan had nothing to report.

Water/Sewer: No report by Trustee Wideman.

Police/Fire: Trustee Ortiz read the report Fire Dept. activities for the months of April and May, 2022.

Tr. Ortiz read the May, 2022 report of PD activities. These reports will be on file in the Clerk's Office.

Unfinished Business none

New Business: none.

Announcements: Tr. Forte said there will not be a Village Wide Garage Sale this year. Residents may obtain their individual permits for a Garage Sale at the Clerk's Office.

Tr. Keams said the American Legion Post 1139 will be going to the Veteran's Home in Manteno on June 23rd• Donations will be welcomed and may be dropped off at the Clerk's Office.

PD Chief Janich said American Legion announcments may be given to the Police Department to put on the internet.
