Pekau for Congress has issued the following press release:

October 5, 2022 - Sean Casten has announced the endorsement of Cook County’s soft-on-crime-boss Tom Dart.

Under Dart’s leadership, Cook County has seen gun homicides skyrocket to their highest levels in decades; car-jackings, smash-and-grabs, and assaults on the public transit and in once-safe neighborhoods have become a reality of living in Cook County under Dart’s watch.

When violent offenders on electronic monitoring under his watch murdered a 73-year old Vietnam veteran in Hyde Park, Dart argued that he no duty under the law to prevent the men from committing the crimes.

“A failed, soft-on-crime politician endorses a failed, soft-on-crime lobbyist. Is anyone surprised?

“As a mayor in Cook County, I see the disastrous impact of Tom Dart’s so-called “leadership” every single day. The policies of Sean Casten and Kim Foxx have created chaos in our communities, and Tom Dart’s soft-on-crime approach has emboldened criminals who wish to do harm on our streets. Law-abiding people in Cook County pay the price everyday for Sean Casten and Tom Dart’s failed approach to crime.

“In Orland Park, I’ve worked with our local law enforcement and federal agencies in an attempt to combat the effects of Dart’s disastrous soft-on-crime approach, which has absolutely contributed to the destruction of Chicago and the exodus of businesses and families from Cook County. I am going to Congress to ensure that the law-abiding people in this nation are protected from the experimental crime policies of  Kim Foxx, Sean Casten, and Tom Dart, and to end their era of politicized policing that has hurt so many.”
