There are various reports on students and staff within the district.
Adam Thorns, the superintendent of the district, gave a brief update on the district. He discussed how they were up in enrollment by 47 students, a total of 1449 students. Strangely enough, districts around them with similar populations were seeing decreases of 100 or so students, so he wants to pay attention to class sizes if the growth continues.
He also talked about staffing throughout the district. They are still in need of a couple of positions, including a health teacher and reading specialist at the junior high, various special ed positions at both elementary buildings, and some paraprofessionals. He also acknowledged some resignation notices that were posted recently and would hopefully bring in some more candidates soon.
The director of the curriculum gave a quick update on how they will operate with testing data in the district. They want their decisions to be data-driven so that they can best support the students and the instructional tactics that they respond to best. They plan to do NWEA math and reading growth benchmarks three times a year. K-8 students will do them in fall, winter, and spring.
