Village of East Hazel Crest Board met Sept. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Roll Call: Trustees Forte, Keams, Johnson, Ewan, Wideman, & Ortiz present..

Also present Deputy Chief Mills,, PD Chief Janich, PW Supt. King, Joan Hale, Carol Cook,, H. Keams, C. Robertson, F. Kolodiej, Brian Hannett, and M. Mostert.

Invocation & Pledge. Silent invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Reports of Village Officials:

Mayor's Report:

1) Proposed contract for sale of 1411 W. 172nd St. Trustees Forte and Johnson made the motions to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to execute the contract to sell the vacant lot at 1411 W. 172nd St. for $20,000. 00. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Motions carried.

2) Proposed contract for replacing Village lights with LED lighting. bHg LED Lamps, LLC proposes to replace 45 street lights with LED lights for $13,500 plus labor with an estimated 55% rebate and with the Village providing a weekly lift vehicle. The Village has to pay½ of the contracted amount upon acceptance of the contract and the balance upon completion of the project. Motions by Trustees Kearns and Forte to approve the cHg LED Lamps contract.. Roll Call: Trustees Johnson and Ortiz voted nay; Trustees Ewan, Wideman, Forte and Kearns voted aye. Mtn. carried.e

3) Discussion/consideration of proposed security cameras as suggested by Police Department for the purchase o eight (8) cameras to all entrances to the Village. FLOCK SAFETY proposed to install the cameras for $2,500 with a $350.00 fee each on non IDOT roads for a total of $20,000.00. Trustees Ortiz and Ewan made the motions to approve the purchase of the cameras. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Motions carried.

4) Proposal to send 2 firemen to the Academy at NW University. The Fire Department has received a $1,500.00 Grant to send 1 of the firemen to the Academy; cost for sending 2 firemen is $4,500.00. Roll Call: _all trustees voted aye. Mtn. carried. ,

5) Trustees Ortiz and Ewan made the motions to approve Sgt. Tully attendance to Staff and Command Training at NorthwesternUniversity at the cost of $4,500.00. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye.

6) The Flossmoor Police Chief sent a letter to Mayor Brown relating a domestic related incident in which their responding officers called for assistance. EHC Police Chief Janich responded. Flossmoor Police Chief commended Chief Janich for his exemplary response to the situation.

The East Hazel Crest and Homewood will put ½ of its gaming revenue for four ( 4) years to the Public Benefit Fund. WIND CREEK will contribute $2,000,000.00 for 5 years to the Fund. The Fund will be distributed to South Suburban College, Prairie State College, Moraine Valley Community College, South Suburban Hospital and Ingalls Hospital annually.

Mayor Brown said the American Legion Post 1139 will be going to the Veteran's Home in Manteno soon and encouraged residents to drop off their donations at the Clerk's Office ..

Administrator: absent.

Clerk:

1) Rep. Wm. Davis will be conducting a SHRED DAY this Saturday, 9/17/22 from 9 AM until Noon.

2) The Knights of Columbus will be conducting their annual Tootsie Roll campaign Sept. 16th & 17th at the comer of 175th & Center.

3) Trustee Ewan as EHC Library Board Secretary, stepped forward and presented to Dpty. Fire Chief Mills a check for $1,500.00 for the EHC Volunteer Fire Department activities including their annual Halloween Party for the children of the Village.

OPEN TO VISITORS:

Trustees Ortiz and Wideman made the motions to OPEN this segment of the meeting to visitors. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7:36 pm

Mark Mostert of 17105 Ashland made inquiries about signage on billboards

Mayor Brown told him there will be a seminar on 9/22/22 from 5-7 pm in the Barnes & Nobel Auditorium at Prairie State College that will address that question.

Stan Slobowski of 17216 Loomis questioned the change in office hours for the Clerk's office and about the vacant lot at 175th & Center. Mayor Brown answered his questions.

J. Murry of 1413 W. 172nd St, told of the 'rusty' table and poor conditions in the Kiddy Parks. Mayor Brown said the Board is looking into the situation and will be updating the parks soon.

CLOSE TO VISITORS: There being no other input from those present to the meeting, Trustees Ortiz and Johnson made the motions to CLOSE this segment of the meeting. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7:49 pm.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

STREETS: Trustee Forte spoke of the need to be aware of your surroundings.

FINANCE/LICENSE: Trustees Johnson & Keams made the motions to pay all Bills on the 8/22 Claims Sheets in the amount of $52,963.50 and on the 9/14/22 Claims Sheets in the amount of $37,472.46 for a total of $89,463.34. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried.

SIGNS/CONSTRUCTION: Trustee Keams reported he is currently making inspections of all signs within the Village. He said the village should consider using the Village standpipes for advertisements.

HEALTH/SAFETY/PERSONNEL: No report by Tr. Ewan.

WATER/SEWERS: No report by Tr. Wideman.

POLICE/FIRE: Trustee Ortiz read the August, 2022 report of PD activities and the July and August reports of the EHCVFD activities. These reports will be on file in the Clerk's office.

OLD BUSINESS: none

NEW BUSINESS: none

ANNOUNCEMENTS: The EHC Volunteer Fire Dept. Spaghetti Dinner was a success. -Tr. Ewan spoke of complains of speeders on 172nd Street.
