City of Palos Heights Water and Sewer Committee met Nov. 22.

CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Bylut called the Water and Sewer Committee meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. In attendance were Chairman Bylut, Alderman Key, Alderman Begley, Alderman McGrogan Director of Public Works Adam Jasinski, and Recording Secretary Ashley Pala.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Bylut made a motion to approve the minutes of the Water and Sewer Committee meeting held on October 25, 2022 seconded by Alderman McGrogan. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Director Jasinski presented the following reports/considerations:
∙ Water main breaks: There have been 40 water main breaks year to date. Since the previous meeting, there have been two breaks. There was one located at 12823 Oak Park that was not significant. It was a leak that has been taken care of. There was another break on November 22 at 101 Surrey Hill.
∙ 127th and RT 83 Construction Update: The intersection of 127th St is closed indefinitely. An unmarked fiber optic cable was hit while installing the watermain. Currently waiting for the repair of the fiber optic cable to be completed.
∙ 2022 Sewer Rehabilitation Program: Spot repairs on the sanitary sewers in the Original Westgate Subdivision have been completed. The sewer lining will begin early 2023.
Alderman Bylut Motioned to approve payment for sanitary manhole rehabilitation for the Southwest Highway Lift Station discharge point with Airy’s Inc. in the amount of $19,749.53, seconded by Alderman Begley. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. –AGENDA
Alderman McGrogan motioned to approve payment for labor and repairs for the replacements of 8” valves to Airy’s Inc. in the amount of $16,601.01, seconded by Alderman Begley. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. --AGENDA
∙ Misty Meadows Water Tower Update: Waterproofing has been completed at the bottom of the pit. There are additional areas going up the tower that need to be completed but the main area (the pit) that was encountering issues has been completed.
Alderman McGrogan motioned to approve payment for foundation repairs at the Misty Meadow Water Tower to Total Waterproofing, Inc. in the amount of $8,350.00, seconded by Alderman Begley. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. -- AGENDA
∙ Menominee Lift Station Update: The bids for this project were opened February 15th and the contract was approved March 1st. There was a kick off meeting shortly after where it was mentioned that lead times for equipment. The contractor is approaching the end of the contract date. They have requested a contract extension.
Alderman Bylut motioned to approve extending the Menominee Lift Station Rehabilitation project contract with Integral Construction, Inc., seconded by Alderman Begley. On a voice note, the motion passed unanimously. –AGENDA
∙ SCADA: SCADA is the remote monitoring system for all pump stations. The programmable logic controller that Metropolitan Pump Company provides monitoring. The component is no longer available to purchase. Converting tanks to newer system allows for parts to be replaced and us to be prepared.
The negotiating of a permeant easement with the hospital is still in process. Until then, painting on the tank cannot be completed. The vent on the tank has corrosion which can cause it to fall in the tank.
Alderman Bylut motioned to approve equipment and services for the Misty and Westgate elevated tanks with Metropolitan Pump Company in the amount of $15,470.00, seconded by Alderman Key. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. –AGENDA
Alderman Begley motioned to approve tank vent repair at the Palos Hospital Reservoir with Van’s Industrial Inc. in the amount of $19,932.00, seconded by Alderman McGrogan. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. --AGENDA
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Director Jasinski sought approval for the following:
∙ Request payment approval for professional services with RJN Group for the 2022 Sewer Rehab Design and Construction in the amount of $2,856.25.
Alderman Begley motioned to approve payment for professional services with RJN Group for the 2022 Sewer Rehab Design and Construction in the amount of $2,856.25, seconded by Alderman Bylut. On a voice note, the motion passed unanimously. –VOUCHER
OLD BUSINESS
Alderman Bylut questioned when repairs were to be made on northbound of Oak Park. Director Jasinski stated all have been addressed and will be patched.

There being no further business, Chairman Bylut moved to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Begley. All in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:54 pm.
