Former Orland Township GOP Commiteeman Elizabeth Gorman sent a mailer that impersonates the Orland Township Republican Organization, but implores GOP voters to pick Democrat candidates, not Republicans, on April 4.

South Cook News obtained a copy of the mailer, which includes a photo of Gorman, identifying her as "Republican Commiteeperson (Retired)" and claims to be paid for by the "Orland Township Republican Organization" with "Scott Kaspar, Chairman."

"I am appalled at the actions of Scott Kaspar and Liz Gorman who sent out a fake mailer to perpetrate election fraud and confuse Orland Township voters," said Cynthia Katsenes, Orland Township Republican Committeeperson. "They did this to support the Democratic Party and Democratic candidates by impersonating the Republican Organization of Orland Township of which I am the duly elected committeeperson."

The mailer, adorned with the GOP elephant symbol, lists Katsenses and two other Republicans running unopposed for Orland Park Village Trustee before recommending Democrats, not Republicans, for Orland Fire Protection District and Moraine Valley Community College Trustee.

Gorman's mailer also recommends a "yes" vote on a Orland Park city-wide referendum question that would give the hired village manager authority over elected Republican Mayor Keith Pekau, a Katesnes ally.

Katsenes said the inclusion of her name on the mailer is purposely intended to dupe voters into thinking she supports the Democrat candidates.

Katsenes defeated Gorman handily last year, winning with 62 percent of the vote.

Kaspar, an Orland Park attorney, is not the chairman of the Orland Park Republican Organization. He ran in the GOP primary for Illinois' 6th District for U.S. Congress, last June, but placed six of seven candidates, winning 3,490 votes (6.9 percent) out of 50,803 cast.

Katsenes said voters "soundly rejected" Gorman and Kaspar in GOP primaries last summer because "they recognize Democratic operatives when they see them."

The local candidates Gorman is recommending are also endorsed by Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

In 2022, Gorman lost a bid to win GOP nomination tor represent the 17th District on the Cook County Board, which includes Orland Park, Tinley Park, Orland Hills, Lemont, Palos Heights, Palos Park, Palos Hills, Hickory Hills, Willow Springs, Countryside, La Grange, Westchester, Elmhurst, Bensenville, Elk Grove Village, Park Ridge and Des Plaines.

Cook County Commissioner Sean Morrison defeated Gorman, winning 58 percent of the vote to ther 43 percent.
