Catherine Greenspon is set to join the Hinsdale Township High School District 86 Board of Education after finishing with more than 25% of the vote from the field of five candidates on April 4.
"I would like to bring unity to the district after we see all who will be seated on the school board," Greenspon said.
According to unofficial election results, Greenspon received 6,424 votes to trail top vote-getter and former school board President Kay Gallo by less than 100 votes, Patch reported. Joining the two on the board will be Asma Akhras, who recorded 5,053 votes.
Both Gallo and Greenspon have pushed for the ouster of Superintendent Tammy Prentiss over the debate regarding a prospective anti-race consultant being brought in, with Gallo starting a petition that netted nearly 2,300 signatures.
With new board members slated to take their spots on the board May 3, the winners will replace Prentiss supporters Erik Held, Kathleen Hirsman and Cynthia Hanson, all of whom did not seek reelection.
