Officials in Tinley Park announced the appointments and promotions of six village employees, which were announced by the board on May 2. However, the board postponed the approval of both their fiscal year 2024 staff appointments and the appointment of Michael Mueller as mayor pro tem for the fiscal year until their next meeting on May 16. Recently, there was a change in trusteeship as trustee Diane Galante relinquished her seat to Kenneth Shaw, who won the election.

The first appointment was for Pamela Ardagh, who was promoted from an administrative support position in the police department to the police chief's administrative assistant. Ardagh has been with the police department since 2013 and has been providing expert support on payroll, records, and scheduling for command staff since 2021.

Police Chief Matt Walsh spoke highly of Ardagh as she holds a lot of responsibility within the department.

"She does everything for the entire command staff and all roads lead to Pam," Walsh said. "So we rely on her heavily as well as she still assists all the clerks with the payroll and everything else that goes on at the front desk. So she handles all the confidential information for any internal affairs. So I appreciate everyone's effort in getting this done."

The second appointment was for Michelle Boone, who was appointed to the office coordinator position. Boone has been working for the village since 2012 and recently managed the fire department in 2021. Given the village's increasing operational needs, Boone's expertise is required in this coordinator position.

Due to the nature of the situation, Fire Chief Stephen Klotz praised Boone, and Mayor Michael Glotz offered a humorous remark about Pam and Michelle's importance to the team.

"So basically you and Chief Walsh can't do your jobs without Pam or Michelle," Glotz said.

During the meeting, several staff members were appointed or promoted to new positions.

William Gomolka, who previously served as the office coordinator for public works since 2018, was approved for the position of public works administrative manager.

Walter Smart, who joined the zoning department part-time in 2016, was promoted to zoning administrator due to the expansion of the department's services to residents and his strong customer service skills.

Jose Garcia, who had prior experience as a community service officer (CSO), was promoted to community service officer - field operations after joining the police department part-time in October 2022.

Lastly, Jill Hodge was appointed as an administrative assistant, expanding her part-time role with the fire department to a full-time position starting in June when another employee retires.

The board is expected to approve the following staff appointments: Patrick Carr, village manager; Hannah Lipman, assistant village manager; Donna Framke, marketing director; Daniel Ritter, community development director; Matthew Walsh, police chief; Stephen Klotz, fire services administrator; John Urbanski, public works director; Angela Arrigo, human resources director; Lisa Kortum, emergency management & communications director; and Peterson, Johnson & Murray Chicago, LLC, village attorneys.
