SPECIAL PRESENTATION

MAYOR AGPAWA

I'm so happy and glad that everyone is here tonight. This really is such a testament to where our city is headed, I'm really glad that tonight we all have so much to be proud of and glad about, so we'll get on with celebrating where we've been and where we're going. The first thing I like to do, is acknowledge our outgoing Alderman, who has served us many, many years and has served us valiantly for many, many years and that is Alderman Jones, I'm going to ask you before we even start, please give him a round of applause for 20 years of service that is a milestone in some places. That's a great portion of his life, we're so grateful. We would just like to honor him tonight; we have a plaque that we'd like to give him.

The newsletter will go out in his Ward and the community about his service to the community. We have letters from the Governor, the commissioners and some of the legislators to send him off well. (Resolution ready by Mayor, very emotional). From time to time anybody that was here last year, we had some tenuous moments, but people are that way when they're passionate, I don't know anybody that has been more passionate. It just touches my heart to honor and celebrate the dedicated, selfless service of Ald. Rondal Jones to the Third Ward and to the citizens of Markham Illinois. Commit your actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16 We sincerely express our appreciation to Rondal Jones for his exceptional service to the city of Markham and wish him much happiness, good health, and success, as he begins a new chapter of his life. We have a duplicate plaque that will be hanging here in part of our history program.

TERESA CANNON

We have gone full circle now, I am Teresa Cannon in this great city of Markham, on behalf of my family and others I rose to extend a vote of confidence for our elected officials, for the next 4 years. Know that you have my best wishes as well as my prayers. I came to be one of Markham's matriarchs for 60 of my 94 years. I have been here on 163rd and Honore, my experiences have included 1 City Manager for Markham, 4 Mayors of Markham 4 City Clerks, 5 with me and many, many Aldermen. I label myself Markham's Ambassador. We have had many battles, but we are overcomers, we are fighters. I am so happy to claim Markham as a progressive city, a city of class. When I was the City Clerk everywhere I spoke, I said Markham was a city of class. The honorable Roger Agpawa is our mayor. I'm not knowledgeable of all the intricacies of politics, so we charge our Aldermen to make decisions for us when we don't understand, they have my vote of confidence to move this city forward. Citizens keep the faith and move forward. I want to thank the police department. Whatever it is Ms. Cannon can do call me.

MR. KENDALL

Good evening as a former and current resident of Markham since 1966, Ms. Cannon you put hands on me too (lol) my good friend, Mr. Joe Bertram, and the mayor, my brother grew up together and I grew up here. I've come here today to bring you greetings from President Preckwinkle, she wants to say that she to supports the city of Markham and she's amazed at the progress you guys have made. She will be here to work with you and to support you in any way that she can.

ROSIE HALL

I resign from speaking, I heard so many good things tonight, all I can say is praise the Lord.

MAYOR AGPAWA

If you don't know why this city is the way it is, two people have already spoken, it is doing good because of all those prayers.

CINDY VALENTI

I just want to thank you and congratulate you on being here and I want to pass because this is a wonderful celebration that I believe we are going to have a meeting we have discussed.

MAYOR AGPAWA

Yes, Ald. Barron contacted me about the meeting.

CINDY VALENTI
