CORRESPONDENCE/EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION 

  • A mother who lost her only child, a young woman, in a car accident on Rt. 83 back on December 27th, 2021, wrote an appreciation letter to the PHPD. She expressed her gratitude and appreciation to all the officers that were involved in this tragedy. She further stated that the residents of Palos Heights are blessed to have such an amazing Police Department. 
  • On May 19th, 2023, The PHPD raised over $20,891.96 for the annual Cop on a Rooftop event, which helps raise awareness and money for the Special Olympics athletes. Our 2 local Dunkin Donuts participated 
  • PHPD celebrated National Police Week on May 19th, 2023, with a lunch catered by POPS, we certainly appreciate all the officers and their dedication and service. 
  • A resident dropped off bakery goods to show her appreciation to the PHPD for their continued hard work and service. 
  • Both Officers, Forrest Marcinowski and Sean Poindexter were given Peer Recognition Awards for a vehicle lockout, with 2 children inside. They responded to the scene and calmed a clearly distraught mother as well as the kids who were crying after being what they deemed to be a very scary situation.

Procedure for addressing the committee: be recognized by the Chairman, rise, and give your name and address. Discussion is limited to 10 minutes, unless an extension is granted by a majority vote of the committee. All meetings are tape recorded.
