City of Harvey Committee of the Whole met June 12.

Mayor Christopher J. Clark called the City of Harvey Committee of the Whole Meeting to order Monday - June 12, 2023, at 6:27 p.m.
Mayor Clark asked City Clerk Rosa M. Arambula to call the roll of Council members. Present: Alderwoman Shirley Drewenski, Alderwoman Colby Chapman, Alderwoman Telanee Smith, Alderman Tracy Key, Alderman Dominque Randle-El, and Mayor Christopher J. Clark. Absent: Alderman Rogers.
Alderman Randle-El gave the Invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Alderman Rogers entered the meeting at 6:40 p.m.
SELECTION OF STANDING COMMITTEES AND MEMBERS
Alderwoman Drewenski mentioned that committees are very important and should meet once a week so that there is no holding up of City business. She believes that the Aldermen should allocate time for these meetings. Alderwoman Drewenski also mentioned that a Mayor Pro Tem is necessary only under emergency situations.
Alderman Randle-El stated that there should only be a legislative committee. He mentioned that everything that they do is legislative.
Alderman Key stated that he thinks that all 5 committees are very necessary. He mentions that public works handles dumping, alleys, and grass.
Alderwoman Colby also agrees that all 5 committees are necessary. She stated that the community can come and speak out about different issues at these committee meetings.
Alderman Rogers spoke on how some of the ordinances need amending and that is under the legislative committee.
Alderman Randle-El again mentions that public safety did cover the noise ordinance and local business to add cameras.
The Mayor said that for the record, he was the one that suggested the cameras for the local businesses.
Alderwoman Smith stated that the City already does the special events. We don't need a Special Event Committee.
A draft was created for the Standing Committees and its members. These will be voted on in the next meeting.
Mayor asked for nominations for standing Mayor Pro Tem. Shirley Drewnski was nominated for Mayor Pro Tem.

Alderman Rogers made the motion to adjourn meeting.
The motion was seconded by Alderwoman Drewenski.
