City of Harvey City Council met June 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Christopher J. Clark called the City of Harvey Regular Council Meeting to order Monday - June 12, 2023, at 7:33 p.m.

Mayor Clark asked City Clerk Rosa M. Arambula to call the roll of Council members. Present: Alderwoman Shirley Drewenski, Alderwoman Colby Chapman, Alderwoman Telanee Smith, Alderman Tracy Key, Alderman Dominque Randle-El, Alderman Tyrone Rogers, and Mayor Christopher J. Clark.

Absent: None

Alderman Rogers gave the Invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Approval of Minutes Dated: Regular City Council Meeting- May 8, 2023.

Alderwoman Drewenski made the motion to approve the Minutes.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Chapman

Voting Aye: Aldermen Randel-El, Key, Rogers, Alderwomen Chapman, Smith, Drewenski.

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: None

MOTION CARRIED

Approval of Minutes Dated: Meeting of the Whole-May 30, 2023.

Alderman Randle-El made the motion to approve the Minutes.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith

Voting Aye: Alderwomen Drewenski, Chapman, Smith, Aldermen Key, Randle-El, Rogers.

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: None.

MOTION CARRIED

Approval of Minutes Dated: Special City Council Meeting-May 30, 2023.

Alderman Rogers made the motion to approve the Minutes.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith.

Voting Aye: Alderwomen Drewenski, Chapman, Smith, Aldermen Key, Randle-El, Rogers.

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: None.

MOTION CARRIED

Bills for Payment: May 15, 2023.

Alderman Rogers made the motion to approve the Resolution.

The Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith.

Voting Aye: Alderwomen Smith, Drewenski, Aldermen Randle-El, Rogers.

Voting Nay: Alderwoman Chapman

Abstain: Alderman Key.

Absent: None

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS FOR THE CITY OF HARVEY

Old Business- None

New Business

Ordinance # 3473 An Ordinance Amending the Harvey Municipal Code of Ordinances to Adopt Rules and Regulations for the Construction and Maintenance of Sewerage Facilities within the City of Harvey.

Alderman Rogers made the motion to approve the Ordinance.

The Motion was seconded by Alderman Randle-El.

Alderwoman Chapman asked the Mayor who would be coming into the business establishments? The Mayor stated that any city representative could come into the establishments if needed.

Voting Aye: Aldermen Randel-El, Key, Rogers, Alderwomen Drewenski, Smith, Chapman.

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: None

Ordinance # 3474

An Ordinance Amending the Harvey Municipal Code of Ordinances to Provide for a System of Administrative Adjudication.

Alderman Randle-El made the motion to approve the Ordinance.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Drewenski.

Voting Aye: Alderwoman Smith, Alderman Randle-El, Alderwomen Drewenski, Chapman, Alderman Rogers.

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: Alderman Key

Absent: None

Resolution # 3044

MOTION CARRIED

A Resolution Approval of a Contract with Fire and Apparatus Supply

Team for a Fire Engine in an amount not to exceed $580,000.

Fire Chief Bell stated that the City had received a grant for a new fire engine. He explained why they had chosen Spartan. They had looked at 7 other vendors and this was the best of all. Alderwoman Drewenski understood that they were not in violation for not taking this for bidding because there was only a limited number of resources.

Alderman Rogers made the motion to approve the Resolution.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith.

Voting Aye: Alderman Key, Alderwomen Drewenski, Smith, Alderman Randle-El, Alderman Rogers, Alderwoman Chapman.

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: None

MOTION CARRIED

PUBLIC COMMENT:

1. Glynis James Watson - She thanked the Mayor for having "Meet the Mayor" on Fridays and also for being able to pay her water bills on Saturday. She asks if the Agenda could be more comprehensive so that they could understand what is going on in the meetings.

2. Cheryl Jones -She states that there is still old business left to take care of which are the community buildings that still need to be finished.

3. Deborah Dyson- She does not understand why she is not getting any answers for the high grass especially on the backyards of the abandoned homes.

4. Lemare Young - Mr. Young asks for the Mayor to sit down with them to negotiate a raise for the union workers.

5. Ryan Sinwelski – He asks for the business to buy a planter and put their logo on it. He says that this will help beautify the City. He also said that he would like to put some corners to beautify the City.

ADJOURNMENT: 8:09 p.m.

Alderman Rogers made the motion to adjourn meeting.

The motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith.

Voting Aye: Alderwomen Drewenski, Chapman, Smith, Aldermen Key, Randle-El, Rogers.

Voting Nay: None

Absent: None.
