City of Oak Forest Veterans Commission met July 20

Here is the agenda provided by the commission:

1. Pledge of allegiance

2. Roll Call

3. Approval of Minutes

• Approval of the June minutes

o All members present approved.

4. Liaison to the City Report Paul Selman:

5. OLD BUSINESS:

• Joe checking with PW about burning flags at PW area.

• Planning for 4th of July 2024 concert at Park District Pavilion behind main Park District building.

• Need to incorporate Operation Gratitude into Independence Day event July 4th.

• Need to schedule military vehicles around the area for display.

• Need to provide food trucks.

• Need at least four Port-a-potties, 1 handicapped accessible and 3 others plus handwash station.

• Parking would be in front of Park District, on Long Ave. and soccer practice fields.

• Hang Veterans Banners and American Flag on pavilion.

• Need MC of the event.

• Handout challenge coins and other veterans give aways.

• One of our members could use a little yard clean-up assistance. Joe talked with him about setting a date. His son and grandson have helped cleanup inside and outside.

• Veterans Birthday signs need to be handed out to members to place on lawns. If there are no volunteers, I will assign members.

6. NEW BUSINESS:

• Suds & Stuff car wash fundraiser for Illinois Torch Run at fire station 1, Saturday August 26 09:30 to 15:30. The Veterans Commission was asked if we want a table to advertise.

7. Once around the Table.

Each member shares any information for Veterans.
