City of Oak Forest Veterans Commission met Nov. 16.

Here is the agenda provided by the commission:

1. Pledge of allegiance

3. Approval of Minutes

• Approval of the October minutes

■ All members present approved.

4. Liaison to the City Report Paul Selman:

5. Old business:

• Joe checking with PW about burning flags at PW area. No Date yet.

• Planning for Independence Day 2024 (July 4th) picnic and concert at Park District Pavilion behind main Park District building.

■ Can we incorporate Operation Gratitude or Manteno Veterans Home into Independence Day event July 4th?

■ We will schedule military vehicles around the area for display.

■ Food truck vendors.

■ Dennis Contacted Jack Frost to attend.

■ Paul contacted Nick V’s (Doug’s Dogs), Taco truck, Kenootz Pizza and one more.

■ Food vendors need to submit their sanitation certificate.

■ Port-a-potties are needed at soccer field parking area, park pavilion, 2 handicapped accessible and 6 others plus 3 handwash station.

■ Parking is available in front of the Park District, soccer practice fields, and gravel area south of soccer field, plus on side streets.

■ Need to ask permission to park in some business areas.

■ Musical groups need to submit a W-9 for record keeping of money spent.

■ Hang Veterans Banners and American Flag on back of pavilion.

■ MC of the event is Dennis Mitzner.

■ Handout challenge coins, pens, luggage tags etc.

Our next meeting is Thursday January 18, 2023, at 19:30 in the Blue Room.
