Ashley Ramos, a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, has expressed her deep honor at having three Gold Star families in attendance at the upcoming 2024 Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. The presence of Gold Star families adds a poignant and significant element to the event, acknowledging the sacrifices made by those who have lost loved ones in military service.
“So honored to have 3 gold star families attending this year!” Ramos said on Facebook.
According to the event banner, the 2024 Republican Lincoln Day Dinner is organized by the Iroquois County Republican Committee and is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. The venue for this gathering is St Paul’s Lutheran Church located at 108 Woodworth Road in Milford. Attendees will enjoy a chicken dinner with sides and dessert, and will also have the opportunity to participate in raffles for six gift baskets and a cash prize. This event serves as a platform for individuals to interact with candidates, exchange ideas and connect with fellow community members.
Tickets are priced at $25 each, according to the Iroquois County Republican Committee. Those interested in attending are encouraged to reach out via social media to purchase tickets and ensure their participation in an evening dedicated to political engagement and community building.
Ramos hails from Bradley but has connections in Chicago Heights where she spent her formative years. She completed her education at Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School in 2005 before taking radiology courses at Kankakee Community College. As an e-commerce specialist and devoted mother, Ramos brings a diverse range of skills to her candidacy. Additionally, she is a licensed notary and holds certification in CPR according to her campaign website.
The 2nd Congressional District encompasses the southern suburbs of Chicago, eastern Will County, most of Kankakee County and Chicago’s far southeast side. It is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.), who has held the position since 2013. Kelly also serves as the Chair of the Illinois Democratic Party, according to Ballotpedia.
