2024 FLOCK/AXON LPR CAMERA ACTIVITY
● YTD – 26 hits
● FLOCK activity includes citations, arrests, stolen vehicles and identification of vehicles used in other crimes.
● Once fully operational, we will have a total of 9 LPR cameras.
● Within the first week of activation, the Axon LPR system identified a stolen vehicle in town, leading to a felony arrest and recovery of the vehicle.
OLD BUSINESS
● Our SWAT Team was activated twice this month reference high-risk narcotics trafficking search/arrest warrants.
● We are working with Jan and the Department of Treasury on our Drug Asset Forfeiture Treasury account audit.
● The Police Pension Fund is in the process of transferring our assets into the consolidation fund. We have experienced only minor issues.
NEW BUSINESS:
● To be declared surplus and sold to the Crestwood Police Department (1) – 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, VIN # 1GNLC2KC7FR557393. Proceeds from the sale will be deposited back into the Drug Asset Forfeiture Account.
● After a multi-year wait, we anticipate the procurement of four 2024 PPV Chevrolet Tahoe’s. The vehicles will be purchased under State of Illinois pricing and paid for by Drug Asset Forfeiture monies.
● Recently we have investigated two major thefts by deception totaling over $250,000.00 to our residents. We want to remind our residents to call 911 before they send money to anyone claiming to be from the FBI or Palos Heights Police.
● The Labor Day Grant yielded over 71citations for various driving offenses and several arrests.
● We are in talks with SSERT to join their SWAT team to better enhance our members tactical experience.
● CIT Coordinator Carlson was asked by ILETSB to train officers and prosecutors in Indiana on Palos Heights’ CIT model.
● Strategic planning has begun for the 2024 Holiday Parade and Kris Kringle Market.
CORRESPONDENCE/EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION
● Numerous citizens sent food and accolades to the men and women of the department in honor of September 11th.
● Office Apostal and Sepulveda received Peer Recognition Awards for aiding a resident in a severe alcohol addiction crisis. Since that time, this person has been successful in their recovery.
● Officer Carlson will be honored by the Palos Lions Club, at their 75th Anniversary First Responders Appreciation Dinner for this commitment and compassion to the ongoing mental health crisis that our communities are plagues with.
