City of Calumet City Council met Sept. 18
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
CALL TO ORDER The Special Meeting of the City Council was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Mayor Jones.
PRESENT 6 ALDERMEN: Navarrete, Tillman (remotely), Williams, Gardner (6:07 p.m.), Patton, Smith
ABSENT: 1 ALDERMEN: Wilson
Also present were Mayor Jones, City Clerk Figgs, City Treasurer Tarka, Deputy Clerk I Jessica Coffee, Economic Development Val Williams, City Administrator Deanne Jaffrey, Police Chief Kolosh, Engineering Consultant Matt Buerger, Fire Chief Bachert.
PUBLIC COMMENT: None
Alderman Tillman Remote Attendance Alderman Tillman reported that he was unable to be present in the chambers for the Special Meeting due to his work schedule.
Approval For Remote Participation Alderman Patton moved seconded by Alderman Williams to allow Alderman Tillman to participate in the September 18, 2024 Special Meeting remotely.

Presentation From Carmona Strategic Solutions Roberto Carmona gave a presentation highlighting his companies experience in the Head-Hunting Industry. Mr. Carmona spoke about his past employment opportunities in Economic Development and how his knowledge will help him find the perfect applicant for the City of Calumet City.
Mayor Jones Mayor Jones inquired about Carmona Strategic Solutions turnaround time to locate a suitable candidate for the Economic Development Director position.
Roberto Carmona Roberto Carmona responded to the Mayor's inquiry by giving a brief synopsis of what his company plans to do over a 90-day period to locate all of the qualified applicants and do a deep dive into their work history and background.
Presentation From CPSHR Consulting David Niemeyer gave a presentation to the city council were he highlighted his knowledge and experience in the private sector. Mr. Neimeyer spoke about his position as the Midwest Director of CPSHR and his passion for recruiting. CPSHR offers a 1-year guarantee, which means if the candidate should terminate their employment with the City of Calumet City before they've been employed for a year; CPSHR will do another recruitment for the position and the only cost to the city would be for advertisement.
Val Williams Economic Development Val Williams commented regarding the September 26, 2024 Regular City Council Meeting: there will be several presentations from businesses looking to renew their Class 8.
Adjournment Alderman Smith moved to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Gardner at 6:44 p.m.
