FOIA Request to City of Palos Hills Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.

As a part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Cook News have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. The request was sent to the City of Palos Hills and pertains specifically to residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present day.

The details requested include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where work is being done, and contractor's name. This information will provide insight into the development activities within the city and offer transparency regarding who is requesting these permits and what they are for.

In addition to this, we have also requested a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. This data will allow us to track ongoing projects in real-time and provide our readers with up-to-date information about construction activities in their area.

Access to public records is crucial for us at South Cook News as it allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the City of Palos Hills regarding our request. We will continue striving towards transparency and accountability in local government affairs through diligent reporting.
