This seminar aims to provide information and assistance to suburban Cook County homeowners facing significant increases in their property tax bills. According to the Cook County Treasurer's Office, property taxes across the county have risen by approximately $706 million, increasing from $17.6 billion to $18.3 billion. Homeowners are bearing an additional $611 million, which accounts for nearly 86% of this year's increase.

In the south and southwest suburbs, where properties were reassessed, taxes increased by a total of $265.4 million. The median residential tax bill in the south suburbs saw a rise of 19.9%, marking the largest percentage increase in at least 29 years.

State Senator John Curran is sponsoring this event to assist constituents in working with the Cook County Board of Review to seek relief for district families.
