State Representative Nicole La Ha and Senator John Curran are set to host a Fishing Derby on Saturday, August 3, at Tampier Lake West in Orland Park. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., offering activities aimed at family enjoyment and education.

"This Fishing Derby is a fantastic opportunity for families to spend quality time together and enjoy the great outdoors," stated Rep. La Ha. "We are thrilled to partner with Senator Curran and other amazing organizations to provide a fun and educational experience for everyone."

The derby will feature awards for categories such as the biggest fish, most fish caught, and a special sportsman award. Children will have the chance to learn fishing techniques from local experts without needing a fishing license. The Illinois Conservation Police and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will be present at the event.

A fishing safety presentation by the Illinois Conservation Police will kick off the event at 9 a.m. Additionally, the first 50 children to arrive will receive a free rod and reel combo, courtesy of the Future Anglers Association.

Senator Curran expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event: "We’re excited to host this event and see our community come together. Teaching kids how to fish and promoting outdoor activities is something we’re passionate about. We hope to see many smiling faces and great catches!"

Rep. La Ha and Sen. Leader Curran invite community members to join in this engaging event. More information can be found at RepLaHa.com or senatorcurran.com.
