IV. PUBLIC HEARING/COMMENT:

Palos Heights, Director of Accounting, Jan Colvin, presented an update on the 2024 tax Levy. Ms. Colvin explained that the tax levy has been developed pursuant to the provisions of the Illinois Property Tax Code, including the Property Tax Extension Limitation Act (Tax Cap). In determining the tax levy, several factors enter into the tax levy increase. The Consumer Price Index, used to determine the overall increase from the 2024 extension, is 3.4%. We continued our focus on the limiting rate which we estimate to be $1.75. The increase in Police Pension is based on the funding request submitted by the Palos Heights Police Pension Board. Alderman McGrogan noted that recent newspaper reports have showed that there the south suburbs have increased greatly, however Palos Heights has remained steady compared to other nearby suburbs. Mayor Straz noted that the tax levy is calculated by prior taxes, cost of living and any new construction. The Public provided no further comment.

V. ADJOURNMENT:

At 6:39 p.m. the Mayor adjourned the Public Hearing.
