Ralph Pukula noted we are paying $65.37 per ton, down from last year for salt. State Street will be repaved from 127th down to Cass. Construction will be in 2025 hopefully in early fall.

Darshana Prakash said the proposed 2024 property tax levy is $4.8 million which is 6.72 percent higher than the previous year due to new homes and inflation.

Lighting Up Lemont begins this weekend and runs through the end of January! It truly warms up the cold winter season, and is a must see on your list of things to do! The Hope and Friendship Foundation is making Christmas Care Bags and taking collections of paper products, cleaning items, and personal care products December 1 - 20. Drop off bin locations include:
Old Quarry School entryway, Lemont Police Department, Village Hall – 416 Main Street door entryway and Three Stories Books at 310 Canal Street
On Saturday, December 7, Tractors for Toys will be collecting toys and winter apparel items to benefit the need in our community. New, unwrapped toys for all ages, hats, gloves, scarves, and coats can be dropped off on December 7 at:
Target Plaza and Pete’s Market Plaza from 11 AM to 4 PM and during Hometown Holiday in downtown Lemont on Front Street near The Bridge banquet hall from 2 – 5 PM. Any family in need of these items can email, Lemont Tractor Club @ gmail . com.
The most magical event of the year, Hometown Holiday, returns on Saturday, December 7, from 2 - 5 PM. There is going to be so much to see and do during Hometown Holiday, from visits with Santa, our annual Tree Lighting at 5 PM, fun family-friendly activities at

Trustee Sniegowski asked about the condition of current awnings in Lemont. Jason Berry said the Village has a maintenance code and if a business closes, the guidelines ask that the awning be removed.

George Schafer said the Village and engineers have been working with the state, Amtrak and CN for short and long term safety projects. Permits are being approved and we hope to have safety delineators in place by the end of the year. Long term improvements are in discussion and hope to make Lemont a quiet zone with quad gates. Mayor Egofske is glad we are moving forward after the last few incidents on the tracks. The improvements and rail safety are a priority. Trustee Shaughnessy said it is difficult to see fast changes with the railroad.

Motion by Dave Maher, seconded by Ronald Stapleton, to approve.
Ralph Pukula noted that over 2500 water meters need updating and staff is asking for $500,000 in ARPA funds. This will help with remote, electronic readings on the meters. Life span is 10 - 12 years noted Brian from PW. Trustee Sniegowski asked how the meters are installed. Brian said an appointment is made with the resident and then change the register in the basement. Takes less than 15 minutes. If necessary PW can ID lead water lines in the home as well.

Trustee Shaughnessy wanted to express condolences to the family of Officer Enrique Martinez who passed in the line of duty on November 4, 2024. He asked that we pause for a moment and think of all officers that are out protecting our streets.
IX) Staff Reports
Next week is the last week for brown bag pick up with Waste Management said Ralph Pukula. With winter coming, please be aware of odd/even street parking after 2 inches of snow for plowing. Police Chief noted all to be careful this coming Wednesday if out celebrating the holiday.

Ms. Griffin addressed the board with concern regarding trains blocking all entrances in and out of the downtown area, especially with a future park being built. There are also vehicles ignoring the ten miles per hour near Singers Landing. In the area the two trash cans that are not covered are rarely emptied and full of harmful plastics. Mayor Egofske agreed that ER vehicles need access and possibly to the far west.
