On January 13, 2025, we at South Cook News sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Harvey School District 152 in Illinois. The request pertains to the number of non-U.S. citizens currently enrolled in the school district.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe it is essential to understand the demographic makeup of our school districts. This includes understanding how many "migrants" (e.g., illegal aliens/non-U.S. citizens) are currently enrolled in our schools.
We requested this information under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, and have asked for it in an electronic format for ease of access and dissemination.

The average student-to-administrative ratio is 141:1, and the average student-to-teacher ratio is 17:1. Furthermore, 58% of teachers in Illinois have a master's degree or higher.
