On January 13, 2025, we at South Cook News sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Matteson School District 162 in Illinois. The request sought information regarding the number of non-U.S. citizens or "migrants" currently enrolled in the school district.

In this particular request, we asked for the number of non-U.S. citizens enrolled in Matteson School District 162. This data is crucial in understanding the demographics of our school districts and can help shed light on how resources are allocated within these institutions.

We also noted that as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

The average student-to-administrative ratio is 141:1, and the average student-to-teacher ratio is 17:1. Interestingly, 58% of teachers in Illinois have a master's degree or higher.
