On January 28, 2025, we at South Cook News sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Willow Springs School District 108. The request pertains to the acquisition of copies of all emails and memos from the past year that contain specific keywords.
The keywords in question are "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study". Our intention is to gather comprehensive information about these topics as they relate to the school district's operations over the past year. We believe this information is crucial for providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
As a media organization, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
