Simone Vucko, 87, of Downers Grove, IL, passed away surrounded by her family, leaving a legacy of resilience, generosity, and deep love. Born in Metz, France, Simone was the daughter of Juro and Catherine Lorkovic. She married Joseph Vucko, whom she cherished, and together raised four children: Kathleen, Joseph, Kristeen, and Stephanie.

Simone was admired for her dedication to her family and community, as well as her willingness to help others through the path to citizenship, illustrating her strong bond to her Slovenian heritage. Affectionately known as the "raffle lady," Simone brought joy to many with her cheerful demeanor.

Despite health challenges, including diabetes and dementia, Simone's joyful spirit shone through. She spent her final years at Chateau Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she was beloved for her kindness. The Vucko family expresses gratitude to the compassionate staff at Chateau Nursing and St. Croix Hospice for their care.

Simone's memory will be cherished by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and grandson. Simone's impact on her family and community will be remembered with love and gratitude.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at Markiewicz Funeral Home in Lemont, IL, and the funeral service will take place on Friday at the Slovenian Catholic Mission. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in River Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Mary's Slovenian Catholic Mission or the Slovenian Cultural Center.
