David J. Szymborski Remembered for Kindness and Humor

David J. Szymborski, 72, of Lansing, IL, formerly of Dolton, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary Jo, their daughters Lisa Szymborski Blake and Rachel Szymborski, two cats - Oscar and Bumble, granddog - Tank, grand cats - Klemm, Oliver, Sassy, and Yeti, brothers Russell and Michael Szymborski, and many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his mother Adeline (nee Cortney) Szymborski, his father John A., and step-mother Betty Jane (Neetz) Szymborski.

Friends are invited to visit David's family on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 2:00 - 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. The funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, officiated by his nephew, Phillip Potaczek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or an Animal Rescue organization of choice.

Known for his strong faith and compassionate nature, David prayed daily for others and cherished his family. He was described as a wonderful caretaker with a quick wit, always ready to strike up a conversation. His exceptional chili-making skills earned him the title of "chili extraordinaire." David was a dedicated employee at Allied Tube and Conduit in Harvey, IL for 41 years, sharing his wisdom and generosity with those around him.

David found joy in the simple pleasures of nature, particularly in observing birds and squirrels in his front yard during the spring and summer months. He had a deep love for all animals, especially his cherished grand furbabies.

Remembered as a devoted husband, father, and friend, David's kindness, humor, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
