As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, South Cook News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Harvey. The request seeks detailed records concerning businesses registered with the city during the previous week. Specifically, we have asked for information including the business name, business number, business type, business address, issued date, status, and registered agent name.
Our aim is to ensure that public institutions remain transparent and accountable by providing comprehensive news coverage. Access to these records is crucial for us as a media organization dedicated to informing the public and fostering an informed electorate. We have also requested a fee waiver based on our role in disseminating information as part of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. This non-profit organization supports media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
