James Edward Rice, known as "Chief" to loved ones, passed away on June 2, 2025. Born on February 14, 1937, in Chicago, he is survived by his loving wife Diane, children Valerie, James, Melanie, and Nancy, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

Rice worked in appliance repair with General Electric, known for his skill and warm demeanor. A devoted family man, he cherished time with all generations. He was also active in Grace Lutheran Church for over 60 years.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium in Justice. The funeral will take place on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Willow Springs, followed by interment at Fairmount-Willow Hills Cemetery.
