James is survived by his cherished wife, Carol Eldridge nee Coomer, and their devoted children: James (Cyndi) Eldridge, Mark (April) Eldridge, and Nancy (Terry) Arndt. His legacy extends to his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who will forever hold his wisdom and warmth in their hearts.
Predeceased by his siblings, Doris Kolke, Carol (Bill) Macke, and Robert (Mary) Eldridge, as well as his parents, James Eldridge Sr. and Vyrinda Eldridge.
Jim’s illustrious career in law enforcement began with the Chicago Police Force, where he served as a Detective, Sergeant, and Gang Sergeant. His commitment to justice and community service shone through, leading him to also become a Licensed Private Detective. Beyond law enforcement, Jim worked as a milkman and real estate agent, leaving a lasting impact on all he encountered.
A man of deep faith, Jim's beliefs were a guiding force in his life, offering solace and strength. His actions reflected his Christian values, and his faith was evident in all aspects of his life.
Jim found joy in a wide array of interests, including golf, reading, and spending time with his family, including his late dog, Cujo. Known for his wisdom and loving nature, Jim's impact on his community and those around him will be enduring.
A man of integrity, compassion, and faith, Jim leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and service. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, guiding them toward lives of love, faith, and kindness.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium in Justice, Illinois. The funeral service and Time of Remembrance will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by interment at Bethania Cemetery.
