John Rutledge “Rhett” Butler, 84, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, surrounded by family. Survived by wife Joanne, children Jennifer (David Green) and William “Bill”. Preceded in death by parents William and Annabelle McLean Butler, and cousins John Charles “Bumpy” McCaffrey, Thomas Jude “T.J.” (Madelyn) McCaffrey, and Kate McCaffrey. A Marine Corps Reservist and retired Chicago Police Forensic Investigator. Visitation Sunday, August 3, 2025, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Funeral Monday, August 4, 2025, 9:00 a.m., Curley Funeral Home to St. John Fisher Church.
