Calumet City - Margaret Shirley Matlock, age 91, of Calumet City, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin F. Matlock Sr. and the awesome mom of Janice, Theresa, and Benjamin Jr. Shirley was a cherished grandma and great-grandma, and a dear sister and aunt.

Shirley touched the lives of many with her character, always bringing smiles and offering help. She was loved by her family, friends, and church community, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Visitation for Shirley will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her prayer service at 1:00 p.m. at Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home in South Holland, IL, with Rev. Gosbert officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice of the Calumet Area or the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
