Homewood, IL - Michael Fanning, a long-time resident of Homewood, IL, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at Porter Place Memory Care in Tinley Park, IL, at the age of 77. Born on August 4, 1948, Michael was a graduate of Marian Catholic High School and the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. He had a successful career in sales and enjoyed fishing as a favorite pastime.

Michael was the loving husband of Janis Fanning (née Swanson) for 41 years and the devoted father of Christopher and Brittany. He is survived by siblings Sue, PJ, Linda, Carol, Jim, John, Katie, and Kevin. Michael cherished moments with his extended family.

A funeral mass to celebrate Michael's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, at St. George Catholic Church in Tinley Park, IL, followed by a luncheon at Gatto's Restaurant in the same area. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dementia Society of America to support dementia research in Michael’s memory are appreciated.

Michael will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Guests who wish to send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Michael may do so by visiting the floral store.
