Barbara Ann Buschman Remembered for Community Dedication and Generosity

Barbara A. Buschman | Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.c. - Lemont

Barbara Ann Buschman, aged 86, passed away on September 15, 2025, surrounded by her family in Lemont, Illinois. Barb was a prominent figure in the community known for her dedication to family and extensive involvement in supporting local development, charity work, and historic preservation. Her love for music, dancing, card games, and family gatherings was well-known.

Barb's exceptional civic engagement earned her several accolades, including Women of Distinction Award, Lemont High School Foundation Award of Excellence, Lions of Illinois Foundation Fellowship award, Melvin Jones Fellowship award, Citizen of the Year recognition, and Keepataw Grand Marshal acknowledgment.

Barb served on numerous community committees and held leadership positions in various organizations. She was a former member of the Lemont Downtown Development and Festival Committee, Lemont Historic District Commission, and Lemont Lions Club. She spent 16 years on the Village Board as trustee and served as Lemont Township Clerk from 2005 until her retirement.

Barbara was the loving wife of the late Donald E. Buschman and a devoted mother and grandmother to Michael, Amy, Nicole, Paige, Leah, and step-grandchildren Jake, Toni, and Cassie, along with step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place at Markiewicz Funeral Home on September 19, 2025, followed by a Funeral Service and Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, with interment at Clarendon Hills Cemetery on September 20, 2025. Contributions in Barb's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
