The Park Forest Richton Park Neighborhood Network (PRNN) has opened applications for the second round of its Family Stability Assistance Program. The initiative offers up to $1,000 in short-term financial aid to qualifying residents of Park Forest or Richton Park. Eligible uses for the funds include rent payments, home or car repairs, appliance purchases, child care services, and job training costs.
According to Cherise Williams, PRNN Network Organizer, “The goal is to not only provide financial relief, but also to help families build long-term stability.” Williams explained that unexpected expenses can disrupt a household’s finances and that the program aims to give residents resources and knowledge to remain financially stable.
A key component of the program is a required financial literacy workshop. Williams said this educational session helps participants develop practical budgeting and money management skills. “Our workshops give people the tools to manage credit, save for emergencies, and plan for future goals,” she said. “We’re not just helping families get through a tough month — we’re helping them build a foundation for long-term success.”
This second cohort follows an initial round earlier in the year that supported several local families. Williams noted positive feedback from the community: “The community response to the first cohort was incredible,” she said. “We’re excited to see even more families benefit this time around.”
