During the fourth quarter of 2025, Tinley Park residents spent 2.6% of their home’s value on property taxes—more than 2.9 times above the national average, BlockShopper.com reports.

The typical home in Tinley Park sold for $538,000 over the quarter, based on 13 properties sold. The city’s median tax bill was $13,774 for 2025, representing 2.6% of the median home value subject to taxation during that period.

The average effective U.S. property tax rate stood at 0.888% in 2024.

Within Will County, Wilton, Park Forest, and University Park had the three highest property tax rates among cities in the area.

Effective property tax rates for 2025 are determined using estimated inflation rates alongside 2022 county tax figures. Actual rates could show some slight variation from these estimates.

National home prices continued to grow in 2025, reaching a median of around $447,000 in June, an increase of 1.13% year over year, according to Redfin.
