Glenwood Board of Trustees reappoints board members

The village of Glenwood Board of Trustees met Dec. 20 to reappoint board members.

The December 20, 2016 Regular Board Meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM by the Village President Ronald J. Gardiner who led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

1) Approval to accept the Lowest Responsible Bidder for the demolition of 23 West Main Street and 155 West Main Street in amount not to exceed $24,150.00 (Original Motion).

Trustee Styles: Moved; Second by Trustee Beckman to accept the Motion as presented.

Discussion: Some of the discussion included the following: Trustee Washington asked the location of the properties, asked the tax bill on 155 West Main Street, asked why the Village does not wait until 155 West Main Street is purchased before demolition, asked is it possible that the Village demolish the property and then the Village does not purchase the property, asked the timeline for purchasing the property, stated that the true cost of demolition for each property should be obtained; Trustee Slaughter asked can there be two (2) separate motions for each property and can the property be sold; Trustee Winston asked when the properties would be demolished; Trustee Hopkins asked if there is some way that the Village can be protected by alien; Chief Cook stated that the property has been a problem and Chief Cook was asked if information could be obtained on police reports for the property. (The vote on this item was delayed until later in the meeting in order to obtain police reports. (Most of the questions were related to the property located at 155 West Main Street.)

2) Approval to accept the Lowest Responsible Bidder for the demolition of five (5) residential properties Commonly Known. As 233,237,241,247

and 303 Park Drive in an amount not to exceed $39,400.00.

Discussion: Some of the discussion included the following: (Acting) Village Administrator outlined the scoring process; Trustee Winston asked when

the buildings will be demolished and if any of the material is going to be recycled.

The Village of Glenwood Account Balances as of December 20, 2016 was distributed to the Board.

Chief Cook updated the Board on the burglary at 135 East Main Street at the Gun/Pistol Range.

Chief Welsh stated that the Toy/Food Drive was a great success; Chief Welsh complimented the staff for their part in the Recovery and Rescue in Llynwood.

Patrick McAneney, the Public Works Director thanked the police for keeping the streets free of parked cars in order for Public Works to clear the streets following the Snow.

Eric Swanson outlined the preventive maintenance that will be done on golfing equipment.

2a) Approval to accept the Lowest Responsible Bidder for the demolition of 23 West Main Street and 155 West Main Street in an amount not to exceed $24,150.00.

Discussion: Some of the discussion included the following: Trustees Slaughter and Washington asked about making separate motions to obtain two (2) separate bids for each property. (No vote was taken on the Motion.)
