Homewood ranked 393th in state in lottery ticket sales

The village of Homewood had the 393th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of April 2016 -- up 25 spots from its March ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Homewood was $19.02 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the South Cook News, Homewood generated $368,380.50 in net sales from its nine lottery retailers in April 2016, compared to $403,356.50 in April 2015.


The village of Homewood is in Cook County, and has a population of 19,373, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Chicago Heights, Country Club Hills, Flossmoor, Glenwood, Markham, South Holland, Harvey, East Hazel Crest, Thornton and Hazel Crest.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in April 2016 was $42,434.13.

Homewood's top lottery retailer is Homewood Shell located at 17951 S Halsted St, Homewood, IL 60430.

Homewood Shell generated 25 percent of Homewood's April 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Cook County's sales that month, which was $131,460,961.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Cook County in 2015 were Forest View, McCook, Merrionette Park, Calumet Park and Hodgkins.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
