The price of local government: Village of Justice

The Village of Justice budget was $11.26 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $3,927.69 per household.

That's an increase of 3.7 percent from 2014, when the village spent $10.86 million, or $3,788.19 per household.

Justice has 2,867 households and a population of 13,022.

Since 2001, the Village of Justice budget has grown by 59.5 percent, from $7.06 million. The village population has grown 16.8 percent over the same period, from 11,151.

Salaries accounted for 30.9 percent of village spending in 2015. Justice property taxpayers paid $3.48 million for 40 full-time employees and 42 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 55 full-time employees and 48 part-time employees, and spent $2.42 million.
