Analysis: Blue Island pays $5.43 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Blue Island Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.5 percent of the $1,716,752 the Blue Island Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.43 for every $1 from pension members, according to a South Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Blue Island contributed $1,451,138 to the fund, which saw a $55,846 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $266,787, or 15.5 percent, in 2016.
