The Village of Park Forest has added Daniel Meier as the newest member of its Fire Department. Meier was officially sworn in as a firefighter and paramedic during a ceremony at the Village Board meeting held at Village Hall. The oath was administered by Village Clerk Sheila McGann, with Meier’s family, friends, and colleagues present. His wife, Carley, participated in the ceremony by pinning his badge.

Fire Chief Mark Cotrano spoke about Meier’s addition to the department. “Daniel brings a strong background and enthusiasm for the fire service that fits perfectly with our department’s mission,” Cotrano said. “We’re excited to have him join our team.”

Meier began his public safety career in 2020 when he started studying criminal justice at Olivet Nazarene University. He earned his EMT license in December 2021 and worked for Elite Ambulance before joining the Bradley Fire Department in July 2022. There, he completed fire academy training.

In May 2024, Meier graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Olivet Nazarene University while serving with both the Bradley and Crete Fire Departments. He is currently enrolled in a paramedic program at St. Mary’s Hospital and is expected to graduate in November.

Meier expressed enthusiasm about his new role: “I am proud and excited to begin my career with the Park Forest Fire Department and look forward to many years of dedicated service to the community.”
