Chicago Heights FD responds to 142 fires in 2017

Chicago Heights Fire Department responded to 707 calls in 2017 - 12.9 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Chicago Heights included 142 fires - 64 structure fires, 19 vehicle fires and 59 other fires.

In all, the department saw $792,590 in fire loss - or about $5,582 per fire.

The department also received 565 false calls, including 18 malicious calls and 547 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury.
