Country Club Hills FDS responds to 151 fires in 2017

Country Club Hills Fire Dept Stationation responded to 474 calls in 2017 - 18.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Country Club Hills included 151 fires - 95 structure fires, 19 vehicle fires and 37 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $570,679 in fire loss - or about $3,779 per fire.

The department also received 322 false calls, including 17 malicious calls and 305 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and one was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Country Club Hills Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 20 active employees and 12 retired or inactive employees, was $529,389 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $4,304 for every fire in 2016.
